Rhino72
Three years ago I posted this:

Recap: 1957 Beetle sitting in West Texas - bought it. Then it sat in
W. Texas at a friend's house for 3 years. I'm finally moving it into
my garage in a couple of weeks, and am anxious to get started on it.
Here are a few pictures:

Fastback pick up? by
[email protected]
Does anyone know if VW made a pick up truck back in 66? I'm looking at
a picture of a truck that looks like it may have been a Fastback or
Squareback that looks like it may have been chopped up and made into a
pick up. Just looking for confirmation that it's not a legit original
VW...

Hi all. So I just drove my project bug in to work today for the first
time. It's the first time I've had it on the freeway and the first
time I've driven it more than 10 minutes at a time. It's about a 35-40
minute drive for me in to work.
On the freeway I can roll along in 4th without hardly...

Hydraulic case questions by
Karls
Hi RAMVA!!!
I'd like to know. How can I tell a hydraulic case from a solid lifter
one? Can you use solid lifters in a hydraulic case? One of the cases I
have is a mexican AS41. Bought by the PO about 3 years ago. It is one
of those universal cases with the threaded holes on the back to mount
on...

Adjusting End Play by
Mel P.
I replaced the crank in my engine and am trying to set the end play. I
can't seem to move the shaft in and out. I put the flywheel on w/o shims
and get about .014 of play. The original shims (I'm rounding off) are 2 @
..009 and one at .012. According to Haynes/Bentley, you need three...

Thanks for all the help on my carb probs on my 70 sp.
I have now developed another strange problem. Without
any grinding, groaning, or anyother warning signs, 2nd
gear acts just like neutral. 1st, 3rd, 4th and rev are

VW never made a truck in 66.. did someone just cut up a Fastback? Looks

Thanks.

Stupid Fuel Filter by
2
Don't to this. :)
I got the '58 on the road after storage. Amazingly, after installing a new
battery and turning it over a few times to pull some fuel into the pump, it
started and ran beautifully... after the oil-fog I sprayed into the
cylinders burned off.
A toast to Mica, the original owner....

wireing harness replace ? by
LeRoy Prosic
I came to the conclusion that I should replace the wiring harness in my 73
bug convertable with autostick other than "bandaiding" the wiring .
The previous owner changed the dash hacked and wacked the wiring .
I also have a problem with the transmission wiring being cut and spliced and
not shifting...
