2000 TDI Jetta Timing Belt Replacement in Ann Arbor, MI by [email protected]
After my 2000 TDI Jetta died and would not restart the other day, my faithful mechanics at Howard Cooper informed me that my timing is all out of whack and that the timing belt and tensioner need to be replaced. Realistically, it's beyond time for them to be replaced just in the standard...

This VW Is The Fastest Looking Slow Car Ever by [email protected]
Brazil has always been an alternate reality for VWs, with their long-closed borders forcing all kinds of interesting mutations and developments of the old air-cooled VW line. Without foreign sports cars to import, VW Brasil made their own: the SP2. Parked, it was the fastest car you've ever seen....

Replacing main fuel pump. Question pinching fuel line from transfer pump. by tonyw
Hi, It's the '85 Golf (gas, auto) again. Seems every fix solves the stalling problem for a few weeks, then the stalling re-appears. Last fix was replacing the 21 year old ignition switch 2 weeks ago and the car ran fine. Then yesterday engine would run fine for a few seconds then cut out. If wife...

1990 Vanagon Warm Stalling & Loss of Power by [email protected]
My 90 Vanagon, cranks up and runs great, until its warm. When slowing down in gear and then disengaging clutch, idle drops to 1-200 RPM's, bounces there, until it stalls. Starter will turn over motor but will not restart, unless it sits for 30-60 min. However, if it does this on a hill, I can let...

Can't Fill Tank by wrenden
I went to fill up 2009 TDI Jetta fuel tank and the pump kept shutting off before the tank was even half full. Went to another pump and now it won't take any fuel at all. I put my ear to the filler pipe and could hear a lot of gurgling going on. Any ideas? Thanks, wrenden

Volkswagen vindicated by its new Rabbit When practically everybody in the car business abandoned hatchbacks as if they were infected with some sort of bird flu, Volkswagen stubbornly stuck to the design with its Golf. at http://www.washtimes.com/autoweekend/20070111-081354-3828r.htm

2000 Cabrio Driver's Window Weatherstripping Question by Jose R. Perez
It seems the weatherstripping in my Cabrio's driver's window may need to be replaced. When I close the door, the rubber seal of the top of the window bends inward from the window instead of folding and then falling over the window after the door is closed like I think it is supposed to do. I can...

Why do thieves like to steal the VW emblem? by Paul B.
This is the second time my '96 Golf's emblem has been stolen. I was surprised when the guy at my local VW dealer informed me that this is very common. He claims he has at least 3 VW owners a week ordering a new emblem. He thinks it has something to do with people wanting to imitate the Beastie...

I wanted to replace my '02 Passat wagon last year and was disappointed to find that VW's no longer importing it. Now that I've finally decided that the Jetta wagon is a suitable replacement, I find that there aren't any. At the two local dealers I'd want to do business with, one has none,...
