Header Gasket. by
[email protected]
Not sure how to ask a question here. I know nothing about cars.
1992 Dodge Shadow. 90,000 miles.
Running very hot and heater blowing cold air. Take to local Midas and
800 bucks later I have a new raditor(and valve cover gasket which has
been leaking a bit for a year).
Drive to work and it starts...

Honda Accord 98 Check Engine Light coming repeatedly by
John Edwards
I have a Honda Accord 98. Recently I have got the Check Engine Light
on. I read the Haynes manual and tried to get the error code from the
PCM which turned out to be "80" (using the blinking light method in the
dashboard). I interpreted the code (from the Haynes Manual) as a leak
near the fuel...

hard shifting Saturn by
Tokay
I was just wondering if a few of you in here might be able to help me
with a problem.
Lately, my car (93 Saturn manual) has become very difficult to shift.
It seems to stick just before it gets into gear. It doesn't grind, it
just requires a LOT of muscle. And it's mostly in 1st and 2nd gear.
It...

94 Metro engine info requested by
mbjj
If you throw a timing belt at 30 MPH in the 1.0L engine will it
do any head damage like the old escorts used to do? I was getting
on an on ramp to an interstate and threw a belt as I was accelerating
from a dead stop. Needless to say the car came to a dead stop also.
How much damage did the...

Transmission Cooler For Tacoma PreRunner 4 Cylinder 2.7 Automatic Transmission by
Tommy Taylor
Is it appropriate to install a TRD transmission cooler (TRD 00602-16491-002)
in a 2000 Tacoma Prerunner 4 Cylinder (3RZFE) 2.7 Automatic Transmission
with air conditioning? My Tacoma is a 2WD regular cab.
I asked a mechanic if he could install one and he said no problem. When he
called a Toyota...

Experience with Nikki 2 barrel by
Paul M. Cook
I'm told by my mechanic that my 84 Mazda b2000 is in need of a new
carburetor. The cost for a new one, assuming it can even be found, is about
900 bucks. He is absolutely adamant about not replacing it with a reman and
his points are well taken. Now his claim is the carb is badly warped. ...

Car Batteries and cold starts. by
Tavish Muldoon
Does give another car a boost ruin the boosters battery?
It is -31C here (-24 F). The car did not start.
And once a car can no longer turn over - what else can be done besides waiting?
Would a block heater help?
Thanks,

Engine makes a kind of "huffing" noise. by
B.B.
I'm not sure how else to describe it or how long I've had it since my
radio only recently died. (: It wasn't there before, but now it makes
a distinct huffing sound--kind of like an air compressor does, though
quieter. Not very loud and goes away (or is covered by other noises)
when driving at...

electric or pneumatic garage jack by
Josh B. Malks
I'm getting a bit elderly to jack up my 1936 Cord using a standard
hydraulic/manual garage jack. I don't do enough work underneath to
need a lift, even a Kwiklift.
Is there such a thing in the world as an electric garage jack. Or a
pneumatic (air-operated) garage jack? Or something...

just a constant pedal and suddenly drops down and then almost immediately
shifts back up. The TPS was replaced for this problem but it still...

Am taking a vehicle electronic course and am interested in purchasing a

in purchasing their first scanner as opposed to the professional that
uses it to make a living. Any recommendations would be appreciated. -

96 Sentra... Where is my ECM? by
Al Kondo
I have a 96 Sentra with a 1.6 liter engine. I had the trouble code
show up on the dash today as I was working on an overheating problem.
I wanted to determine what the trouble code was by accessing the ECM
and having the codes show on the indicator lamp. I checked my shop
manual to find the...

Not really.
www.car-part.com (searchable used auto parts nationwide) comes up with
lots and lots of them, ranging in condition from "Rebuilt" to "Needs
rebuilding".

advice for broken mounting stud for gas tank. by

I have an old, rusted 89 aries with unibody construction. The car is
dead because there is no fule pressure. I suspect the fuel pump. To get
to the fule pump, I had to drop the tank which means I had to undo the
nuts holding the gas tank mounting straps.
When I attempted to undo the nuts for the...

Help choose rear wheel drive, truck based SUV by
iano
to replace 1995 Explorer XLT.
I've looked at a few webpages to search for cars. So far they all want
the brand first. There are so many new cars now, I suspect that I'll
miss some car I'd like better if I start with brand names.
Your suggestions, please.

Hello.
Thanks in advance for any replies.
Im getting ready to put new brake pads on a car but it has disc breaks on
both fron and rear wheels. Not used to that. Always had drums on the back.
Not sure what to do with rear discs and the e-brake on rear disc beraks.
