warning by
Neil
Police are warning all men who frequent clubs, parties and local pubs to be
alert and stay cautious when offered a drink from any woman.
Many females use a date rape drug on the market called "Beer" to target
unsuspecting men.
The drug is generally found in liquid form and is now available...

'tight' ingnition on a bus by
Terry
I've got another situation with my '75 bus that is buggin' me.
When I am intending to start it and I slide the key into the ignition
and turn it, nothing happens until it sort of goes
'beyond' the 'start' position. In other words .. I turn it
to 'on' ... then I have to turn it REALLY HARD...

OT I am a lucky dude!!! by
Shag
When I moved into the house I'm in now, there were no auto parts
stores within 5 miles of my house. About a year ago they opened up an
Advance Auto Parts store about 3 blocks from my house. Literally
within EASY walking distance. At almost the same time they opened up
a Bojangles (Southern-style...

valve 'clacking' in 2 liter air-cooled. by
[email protected]
I've got a '75 bus with a '78 engine in it. It's had a recent tune-up
and is a good, strong engine with great compression numbers. But from
time to time it 'clacks' loudly upon start-up and initial running and
doesn't 'mellow down' to a quieter purr.
I recently left the country for 2 months and,...

Dune buggy won't run right warm by
Will Sheppard
This used to be dune buggy won't run warm... Until Speedy Jim alerted me to
some major manifold leaks. I've fixed those and now the engine starts
right away and idles nicely. I take it for a spin and it's great until the
choke goes off completely. Then the acceleration is poor, power is...

Starter Woes by
[email protected]
Had the clutch tube welded and stalled on the drive home. Starter
clicked. After an unsuccessful attempt at bump starting, the starter
engaged and I drove home. Nothing after that but a click. Charged
battery, changed starter, now no click, nothing. Tried a remote
starter button (maybe wiring,...

Randall Brink
Does anybody have an opinion on whether Amsoil synthetic or Mobile1 is
better, and when to switch to synthetic from petroleum on a new engine?

Bodywork by
Dan Kiehnle
Hi everyone,
I have a 1964 camper bus. I'm told it's the kind that was brought over here
as a cargo van and then made into a camper here. In any case, it's slowly
but surely rusting away. I have rust around the area just above the front
wheels, at the back where the battery sits, and in the front,...

What sort of paint to use on tins and fan shroud? by
Remco
Hi all
A friend of mine offered to sandblast whatever I need where he works.
My first trial will be the tins and shroud.
What sort of primer and paint should I use on it? I'm not going
absolutely crazy but would like a nice black finish on it all. What
have you guys used?
Thanks!

reconmended tires for pre 67 vw by
Tom Nakashima
I just purchased a 66 vw bug, and after reading the thread on tire pressure,
I was wondering what you recommend for tire replacement. In the tire
pressure thread some of you have gone with a lower profile tire 165. Will
these lower profile give you more comfort and a smoother ride? I'm open...

Installing Headliner: easier than Convertible top? by
Mel P.
I replaced the convertible top (padding & headliner) on my Ghia. I've seen
how people say that replacing headliners are difficult. I want to do it on
my Bug (with factory sunroof). Is it more difficult than doing the Ghia CV
top?

Brass fitting at end of starter drive pinion by
Fly Steerage
After I installed a replacement 12v starter I found a small brass
fitting in the box, and decided it must have come off the end of the
drive pinion. Damn. I also noticed that the starter I removed did not
have this part.
So can someone advise me as to how important is this fitting? Should
I...
