Engine Turns off at Idle by
JBenziger

right back up. And drove fine for a few weeks.
Then it happened again, and again, gradually getting closer and closer
to eachother. The other day, I...

possible to got to Mexico, where they were made until recently, to buy

Replace McPherson strut towers by
[email protected]
I just got my engine running, the tube from the oil neck to the air
intake was loose, and now I'm trying to replace the struts. I tried to
remove the two bolts that secure the bottom of it, but they broke off.
Since then, with it being a shoulder bolt, I have drilled it out,
heated it up, broke...

sticking exhaust valves by
LLBrown
Well, as you can tell from the subject line I have problems. My exhuast
valves seem to be sticking after my engine warms up producing a total power
fall off and non stop backfires.
Is there any hope of an engine flush doing any good or is this a total
overhaul situation??

Distributor turned round 180 degrees? by
scream[_2_]
Hi
When I was tuning up my 71 vw I noticed that my TDC put the rotor
facing 180 degrees opposite what it is in the book. It seems to run ok
and I set the timing with the strobe light fine. Is that normal and
will it do damage? Instead of being at 4 o'clock it's at 10 o'clock
for first...

I changed the oil in my 1970 VW Convertible today. While that was
underway, my wife sent me this e-mail message. None of the events below
were part of my oil change. This is informational only. Really.

I have recently replaced the fuel injectors, and though there is still
about .5mm of o-ring protruding, they seem to be in solidly. The
engine now fires, but after about 40 seconds it chugs painfully and
