Trailer Ball on Bumper on '91 by
Ulysses
My wife got pulled over because I put a trailer ball in the trailer ball
hole on the bumper of my '91 because it "obstructs the view of the license
plate." This sounds like bull**** to me. Anyone know if it's illegal to
put a ball where it was intended to go? Or was this cop just trying to...

98 Explorer sohc 4.0 timing fix by
[email protected]
Hello. I have been searching the web for weeks looking for information
on the timing chain and intake manifold fixes on these 4.0's.
I have had the truck since it had 98,000 miles on it, it now has
150,000. It had a light rattle at startup and has always had a small
vacuum leak up top.
The chain...

'99 Explorer - Several Questions by
CWLee
I just purchased a '99 Explorer from a good friend. He gave
me all the documents that came with it, including the
various manuals. He had purchased this car new with all the
bells, whistles, and extra chrome available that year.
Unfortunately, some of the options are not explained in the
owner's...

Easy Oil Changes- Fumoto Oil Valve by
Explorer1994 4.0L
1994 FExplorer, 4.0L, Edmonton, AB: IMO, this is the best oil drain
valve around. Living here in Edmonton, where winter temperatures
really take a beating on oil, I have to rely on either semi synthetic
or synthetic motor oil.
The prices at dealerships and Mr. Lubes/Lubex are far too high...

03 Rear air problem by
Richard[_11_]
2003 XLT 39K miles with rear air.
I think I have the infamous "blend door" problem on my rear air.
When the rear air is turned on a loud "tick-tock" is heard from the
rear quarter panel. I researched the FAQ sheet and have a question
about something. A few posts said something about an...

1999 Explorer Transmission by
Allan[_2_]
My wife was driving our '99 Explorer, 4wd SUV to town the other day.
When she got back she said the OD light had come on. I asked if she had
inadvertently pushed the button in, she said no. After shutting off the
vehicle and restarting, the light went out.
I took it for a short drive and...

Service memos by
S/B 954RR
My dealership is claiming that there is a brand new memo that came out
stating that remote starters kill the battery for in 2006-2007 Explorers.
Is there anywhere I can find this information on Ford's website? Is there a
national service hotline? The vehicle ('07 Eddie Bauer) was in two weeks...

IAT on 94 4.0l Pushrod V6 VIN X by
Sam
I am posting this question again. My Ford Service Manual saids that I
have a IAT Sensor. Inlet Air Temperature.
I have looked and do not see it. The only place I can think it might
be is on the bottom half of the air filter section of the air intake
housing. That is the only area that is...

Best way to change oil without flooding garage floor? by
Al Tsiemers
What is the best way to change oil without flooding the garage floor?
Removing the filter seems to be a minor mess, but removing the drain plug
results in a spray that bounces off the frame and makes a hell of a mess.
Any ideas on how to actually get it into the drain pan, short of leaving
the plug...

Has anyone been able to get Ford to replace the poorly designed rear glass
hinges and support struts
on warrenty yet?
I got the recall notice, but all I get are excuses that the parts are not in

Buying a Used Explorer by
wabbitslayer
Hi Group,
I've been a mustang owner the last few years and now that it's paid off, I'm
looking at buying a Explorer. The price range I'm looking in is $10 to $12K,
so as near as I can tell, that looks like a 99 to 02 model with anywhere
from 50 to 90k miles, depending on trim level, etc....so of...

Ford Explorer servicing cd/dvd ?? by
[email protected]
I am an Explorer newbie, and need to start working on my '98 XLT. Can't
afford $105/hr just to diagnose, more to work on the car, as my local
dealers are telling me. I have low to average mechanical skills, but
don't take on anything major at all.
I have heard about a Ford Explorer servicing...

Sticking Throttle Body?? by
Don Backous
I have a '99 XLT w/4.0L SOHC engine.
The accelerator pedal sticks and I have the force it (tap it with my foot)
to get going.
Very hard to make a smooth start from a stand still.
Problem is worse if I drive the car a short distance and than let it sit for
an hour or so and get in and go again....

Hello. I have a 99 explorer sport SOHC 99K miles. I just had the

housing with pump. Sorry if I don't know all of the parts, that's
pretty much what they told me.
Just picked it up, it runs great.
Just curious as to cost. I paid...
