Den: I don't know where Sam is from, but this is the latest - more flooding in the area, this time across the river in Wisconsin. "A heavy dose of rain early Monday, coupled with a forecast of more showers Monday evening, has led Vernon County officials to issue evacuation orders for those...

Ignition and Key problems!!!! Can anyone help? by [email protected]
I have a 1972 camper van with a 1600cc motor. Lately I have had a hard time getting my key to go into the ignition. Most of the time I can get it in no problem and it turns easily. But sometimes it is hard to get in but turns easily, but now I can't even get my key to go in. There is no steering...

BUG parts are interchangeable...well sorta by Mike West
Someone at work gave me a very big box of vintage VW Bug screws, nuts bolts etc. All had been seperated , engine tin screws, 10mm rear deck lid bolts, the best part was the bag of those shoulder bolts for the rear seat back pivot points. My car was missing them. I found that there are several...

got some work done on the rail by Shag
Replaced all fuel lines and relocated fuel filter so it's not between the fuel pump and carb. Also found that there is an inline valve coming off of the tank that looks just like the one you'd find on most motorcycles. There's definitely an "on" and an "off" position and (even though I didn't...

T1.8 Timing belt by A New Beetle Driver
I'm taking a 2000 1.8L Turbo Beetle in for the 70,000 mile check up soon. Should I preemptively change the timing belt or wait until I hit 100,000? How much should changing the belt add to the cost of the check up? For that matter, how much should a check up cost? Thanks.

TULZ revisited by [email protected]
To All: Feller writes to ask: 'Is a soldering gun the same as a soldering iron?' (He's stumbled upon the TULZ Series, got down to Chapter Three, is trying to tool himself up for some electrical repairs.) The basic answer in this particular case is 'yes,' an induction-type soldering gun will...

Pricing a Ghia for selling by Oh pooh said Bother
I'm pretty much being forced (divorce) to sell my Ghia that I've hung onto for years--it was my baby--but haven't done much with in a long time. I was wondering roughly how much I can get for it. If anyone could give me a rough valuation, that would be wonderful. The details: -'68 or '69 coupe...

Removing bus steering wheel by [email protected]
I'm trying to remove the steering wheel on a '62 Single Cab. I've read all the threads I can find. After loosening the nut I've tried pounding on the bottom with a shock resistant hammer (until I made a new crack, ouch!), pulling and tugging, and heating the metal part with a blow torch. I see...
