NOW after replacing the fragged roller brearings up front, a couple kids ran
into traffic at an interesection. It was a real showstopper for all the cars
as they all slammed on their brakes. I had to lock 'em up. The kids are
okay.
But now my front brakes are dragging. Goshdarn, I tell ya...

Bearing, year ? by

(This was Mica's '58)
Right front wheel felt like the brake was dragging.
Stopped, touched the drum and got a 2nd degree burn.
Yep. Something's wrong.
Just got the wheel off.
Taking a break for a moment.
When I rotate the drum I can hear the bearing roar, lightly. That's bad. The

Stupid Fuel Filter by
2
Don't to this. :)
I got the '58 on the road after storage. Amazingly, after installing a new
battery and turning it over a few times to pull some fuel into the pump, it
started and ran beautifully... after the oil-fog I sprayed into the
cylinders burned off.
A toast to Mica, the original owner....

Okay. The '58 is coming out of storage after (how long?) So, which way does
the gas tank switch turn for main and for reserve? It's in the middle (off)
now.
I hope Joey answers first.

How to replace instrument lamps? by
2ndKnight
I have a 1978 bug cabriolet. What is the proper way to get at the
instruments in order to replace lamps? There is a steel panel in the
front luggage compartment behind the dash but it is not only held in
with screws but with a strong sealant of some sort. Seems quite
different from my old 1956...

Wheel bearing question. by
2ndKnight[_2_]
I am getting ready to replace a noisy front wheel bearing on my '78
Cabriolet. It has been quite awhile since I have done this. How
much grease should be used? When I took off the drum I found the
whole inner cavity filled with grease. Is that necessary? Should one
use more grease than a...

Timing on fuel injected bug? by
2ndKnight[_2_]
I just replaced the points and condenser with a Hall effect "Hot-
Spark" upgrade for Bosch distributors. The car is a 1978 Cabriolet
with a double acting vacuum advance. The sticker in the engine
compartment says to set the timing at 5 degrees after TDS at idle.
When I do this assuming the single...
