2001 Passat 1.8T Maintenance Hierarchy/Priority by
[email protected]
I have a 2001 Passat 1.8T manual transmission with about 95K miles.
I do an oil change every 5K miles, did the plugs at 60K, put a new
battery in at 80K, and recently replaced the air and pollen filters.
I know the timing belt is recommended to be replaced at 105K.
What other things should I be...

being dragged kicking and screaming into the (late) 2th century... by
Ron
I've vowed never to own anything newer than a '95. since I don't care
for computers ..on my desk or in my car, but reality is setting in.
Vacuum gauges, compression and leak down testers and the oh-so rare
(anymore) oscilloscope is my domain of expertise.
SO for my '95 Passat, which is OBD I, but...

Here's a Brain-Buster for you! by
Mister.Lull
This could possibly be the most obscure question pertaining to this
group to-date.
Does anyone know what the angle (measured in degrees) of the rear seat-
backs is?
A ridiculous diagram of the question might go something like this:

2007 passat - need better lighting by
tuan
Hi All,
I have just taken delivery of a new 2007 Passat. I could not get the xenon
option without waiting 4-6 months. So I took a chance on the regular
headlights and they are very dim. has anyone replaced the standard bulbs
with something better, or taken any other option.
Thanks
Tuan

Odd Question - Trying Again by
Mister.Lull
Hey All,
I asked this question last week, and perhaps I didn't define it well
enough - so I'll try again.
If I wanted to build an enclosure in the trunk of my 2000 Jetta GL
that would fit snug up to the rear seats, what would the optimal angle
be for the forward wall of said enclosure? As an...

vanagon transmission lowering by
[email protected]
Hi all,
I've got an '84 vanagon with what I'm assuming is a bad pilot
bearing. I am planning on doing the job myself but I need directions
for how to drop just the back end of the transmission to allow access
to the engine. I'm sure I remember seeing this somewhere before but I
can't seem to...

If my timing belt breaks by
[email protected]
I have an 84 Rabbit with the 1.7 liter, carburetor engine.
I changed the timing belt at about 80,000 miles and I now have about
145,000.
I was just wondering... if it breaks, do I damage the valves?
Or is it a non-interference engine?
I suppose I should just get around to changing it, eh?

the brake lights on my Golf are not working.
I checked the fuse and bulbs.
The reverse lights also seem to be out. Any ideas?

Dealer Props! by
Detailing Dude
Hi everyone
We took our 2005 Passat TDI in for 20,000 mile service and the dealer either
broke or loosened a lug on the front right wheel. Didn't notice until I
added air to the tires about two months later. Contacted them, and after a
brief discussion with the service rep, they agreed to "Look"...

91 VW golf, different cams now PCV or Idle stabilizer by
petricola
Hi there, Ive never seen this set up before, I bought a non running 91
vw golf with different cam gears. It was also missing the idle air
control valve and the PCV valve was entirely missing. The vacum lines
on the intake manifold have been plugged for the PCV and the idle air

of the 83s gtis the fuel injector holders are long. A long tube with a
round hole in the end for the fuel to come out.

of the 83s have the...

Film pathways by
Dave[_39_]
On the back of my instrument cluster is a film that contains pathways. The
incandescent backlights use a module to plug into. The module clips to the
film via springy metal that clamps over the pathway on the film. I cannot
figure out how the left hand module is supposed to stay clipped to...
