soft top hardware

That's what I have. If you have pics of the hardware, that would be
great. I haven't been able to find anyone that sells the OEM or
similar hardware.

soft top hardware

I think it is the OEM set-up although likely replacement cloth. It is
in great condition but the material around the doors flaps a bit.

soft top hardware

I have a mostly complete softtop for my 86 CJ, but it is missing the
support bars around the each of the door frames needed to help the
doors seal up properly. Anyone have pics of these (I don't...

$250 Jeep

Thanks Steve.

I am now the proud owner of a second CJ-7 and more spare parts than I
could imagine.

cold start sluggishness

Yeah - that is what I was thinking on the whistle. I will check all
the temp controlled vacuum lines and switches first. They may be two
separate problems that happen to coincide. I guess the...

cold start sluggishness

I know a few other folks have posted other cold-related issues and
received lost of responses, but none seemed to match quite right.

timing advance help

Thanks Mike.

I think the first course of action may be to ascertain the stepper
motor pin settings. I think I may have moved them out one click (that
is to say, when looking down the barrel, one...

CJ Mexico trip (long)

What a great adventure and recount. It is exactly the type of trip I
would love to experience. What were your security
concerns/preparations for the trip?

Advice needed - recurring rear axle oil seal leak

Just an update on this thread. Despite Bill's diagram, the D44 on the
86 CJ7 in fact has only 1 seal per side and it is outboard from the
bearing. There is no grease seal, so the bearing is...

Advice needed - recurring rear axle oil seal leak

Thanks Earl.

When I first had the seal done, I thought the seal was behind the
bearing and thus would require a press (which I don't have) so I took
it to my jeep guy - had I known, I probably would...

Advice needed - recurring rear axle oil seal leak

Ok - I am confused.

Mike, didn't you have a wheel leak a few years back that you had to fix
(march 02 - I was digging through old threads)? What did that turn up?

If there are two seals (as Bill's...

Not to beat a dead horse here guys, but would a loose bearing race
actually cause a brand new seal to fail within a couple of weeks? Or am
I likely dealing with two problems:

1) dealing with the...

Bill -

Thanks for replying. Are you saying that the two issues need not be
related and unless I burn out the new bearing, there is no real problem
with it being slightly loose in the housing as it...

Thanks for the reply, Mike.

(although it doesn't sound good)

By the way, why did you get a new spindle? What does that have to do
with the fit of the bearing in the housing?

In fact, all I really know is that it is a 4 speed and I didn't really
suspect it had been replaced (nothing else has obviously been modified
on the vehicle). Given this,...

T4 in an 86 CJ7

I have a four speed manual in my recently acquired '86 CJ7 (258). Saw
a thread from a while back (Mike Romain) suggesting that the four speed
was not a stock option in 1986.

According to this...

Thanks Billy. I definitely was planning to address the idle tube

I also have (decel/downhill stall, uphill revving).
