yes, but hardly the same thing. my congrats, ron, for at least
being consistent - you're somewhat right, but basically all wet.
talk to veteran police officers whether in cities, counties, or
states that have personally been in "combat" with the bad guys
and perhaps wounded in the line of duty or talk to the families
of those officers killed in the line of duty. now, do the same
thing to members of the U.S. Army infantry, armored, and
artillery units in Europe during WWII, the B-17 and B-24 bomber
crews, and both the Marines and Army GIs fighting the Japs in the
Pacific Theatre and you will come away - hopefully - with the
feeling that a real war is just a tad more dangerous than a
street "war" and just a tad more important. that is not to take
anything away from a member of any law enforcement agency, they
also deserve my unqualified respect and deserve their own day(s)
of remembrance. but, do NOT dispare those who actually fought and
died for their country, or even those in "safe" backwater areas
in support of troops actually in combat. since I already know
your country of origin, I can deduce that your contribution as a
vet was, by definition, both limited and minimal but please feel
free to correct me. I need a good laugh this afternoon.

Ooops! my bad! I should say that I have NO respect for police
officers like rob who were fired from their job nor cops who
deliberately violate citizens freedoms, rights, and protections
under the U.S. Constitution and both Federal and state law.
Thankfully, these rogue or cowardly cops are very small in
number.
