From what?
Have you been driving so long that you can remember when traffic cops
*didn't* do what they are doing now?

I not only rode bikes for years, I owned my own MC repair shop.
I was pretty into the scene.
MC riders are no dumber or brighter than any other broad segment of
the general population.
They just have different attitudes.

How long would that be? As recently as 8 years ago, cops would give tickets
for offenses other than speeding and dui. Now all they do is write those
two tickets and clean up after all the accidents.

How long would that be? As recently as 8 years ago, cops would give tickets
for offenses other than speeding and dui. Now all they do is write those

That is just not true. In my home town, San Diego, one of the busiest
roads is Interstate 5. It is also one of the safest in terms of
accidents per vehicle mile. For much of the day, the _average_ speed
of all drivers is 80mph, or 15 over the speed limit. If your theory
were correct. with so many drivers speeding, it would be one of the
most dangerous roads.
