202 Dodge Dakota 4X4 Brakes
I recently had my truck in the repair shop and had my brakes inspected
because I was getting a mild pulsing action when the brakes were applied. The shop pointed out that although the brake shoes on the rear of the truck had little to no wear the front brakes were shot. I had to replace the calipers and the rotors along with the pads. On initially looking at the pads on the front they appeared to have little to no wear but the brakes had gotten hot enough to warp and crystalize the rotors and the pads. The repair shop showed me that the brakes on the rear had not been in contact with the rear brake drums so the front brakes were all that was stopping the truck. The auto adjusters were installed incorectly at the factory and had not move from their original setting. The paint marks that are installed in the factory were still plainly visable and it was clear that they had never worked. I suggest that any owner of a Dodge Dakota 4X4 pickup take their truck into a Dodge Dealership if the truck is still under any warrantee or a reputable brake shop for an inspection before they get in a jam. Good luck with your truck. |
