Default wireing harness replace ?

I came to the conclusion that I should replace the wiring harness in my 73
bug convertable with autostick other than "bandaiding" the wiring .
The previous owner changed the dash hacked and wacked the wiring .
I also have a problem with the transmission wiring being cut and spliced and
not shifting .
Now my question is there anyone in the news group has had any experience in
replaceing such a harness ?
What make do they recommend, any pointers?
Thanks

I bought my wiring harness from John at aircooled.net. I haven't
actually installed it, but as I'm sure everyone will tell you, John
sells good stuff.

The main pointer is not to just yank out the old wiring harness when
you are getting ready to replace it. It makes life much easier if you
use the old one to thread the new one through, at least for the main
part.
