Default Fix cigarette lighter output

The cigarette lighter output in my Mitsubishi Lancer 2005 is not
working. Does anybody know what the problem is? Is it possible to fix
myself? If not, how much do you think it will cost to fix it?

Thank you.

There is usually a fuse in this circuit and that is the first thing I would
check.
See if the fuse is good and if there is voltage on both sides of it.

These lighter sockets can also become corroded internally to the point they
will not make good contact with the plug you insert.

Be sure the metal body of the socket is properly grounded.

Spray contact cleaner all over the contacts and work it in to remove the
crud. If that doesn't work, replace it either with a dealer part or one from
a junk yard.
