Default alfa 156 2.5 V6 - Cam Belt query

I have recently bought an Alfa156 V6 and was wondering should I replace
the cam belt before the 72,000 mile service? Any ideas on the cost of
Cam belt replacement and can anyone recommend a good dealer in Herts or
Beds?

Oh yes, very much so

www.alfaworkshop.co.uk

Not a dealer, but we have nothing but praise for him

Tell him Chris the computer guy sent you.

Yes. Definitely. Do it ASAP.

No idea. Depends where you take it.

Markyate, near Dunstable, any good for you?

DFS Motors just off the High Street. Speak to Dale, tell him that Steve
with the pair of 33s and a 75 sent you.

He's £25 + VAT / hour and does a cracking job for very little money -
has an account with the Alfa parts place in Luton, and seems to get the
bits very cheap.

If you speak to him, tell him that he didn't do anything wrong - the
reason he doesn't get our custom anymore is that we've moved 150 miles
away.

Just make sure you go to the pikey looking place with the chicken wire
fence and old wrecks in front rather than the garage attached to the
showroom next door. Easy to get it wrong.

Expect to pay in the region of £500 at an Alfa dealer. That may also
include whatever else is getting serviced at the time, but personally I
wouldn't bother getting it done early IF and only IF the car has a full Alfa
history. Besides, you never told us how many miles it has done?

Oh, remember, it's supposed to be every 72,000 mls OR every 3 years
(according to local Alfa joint).

72000 is a bit late. 60000mi is the normal planning

cost: I got a full 48k service, MOT and cambelt / tensioners / variator
done at alfaworkshop.co.uk in November - fair amount of change from
£500, and excellent service.
