Hi audiheads i would like to know if there are any basic cheap modifications
to upgrade my engines power bhp ,european car ok

A 1.8T can be chipped for under £500. Google for it & you should find plenty
of references to Upsolute, Revo etc etc - there are about 6 or 7 different
chips for the 1.8T & all will deliver betwen 190 & 210 bhp depending on how
aggressive they are. No other modifications needed on the engine except
maybe a new diverter valve (under 100 notes).

Suggest you check with your insurers before taking the plunge & look into
whether your brakes are going to be upto the job (they probably will be).

Also, beware of warranty issues! Here in the US, there are many war
stories about dealers who will not honor warranty claims for chipped
engines, even if the chip doesn't cause the problem! Apparently, once
you get into their system as having a 'chipped' car, anything related
to driveline issues can be denied by Audi of America.
