Default coolant change......now heater too hot yet gauge too low

94 aerostar:

changed coolant and tried to burp, but trouble. Now
heater runs very hot (very quickly) yet temp gauge
barely moves. I'm afraid to drive it since I can't
depend on the gauge to tell me if the engine is
over heating. The air out of the heater is so hot it
almost burns my hand. Any burping tips ? (was running
fine before but fluid was way past due for changing).

thanks

Can u get to the temp. sending unit & remove it termporarily--just long
enough for coolant to allow any air to escape? May hafta do it with engine
cold. Whenever, ensure coolant level is at a point higher than the send.
unit so the opening will 'bleed' or 'burp' properly. CAREFUL TO NOT GET
BURNED. HTH & goos luck, s
