Not here (DC and VA) they don't. They block off a road and stop
everybody. Now they only give "extra attention" to those actually
appearing inebriated, but EVERYONE has to stop, there's no flagging down
of every 3rd car or anything, it is a hard checkpoint.

Agreed 100%. Probably would be more effective as well.

Hey stupid. If DUIs knew they'd get prison time, they wouldn't drive
drunk and we wouldn't need checkpoints. And those few that still did
drive would find themselves in prison and no longer on the highways.

But the real answer still is stiff penalties. You can't let these
deadly murderers off with fines.. If you knew that a DUI conviction
meant mandatory prison time and suspension of DL for 5 years following
incarceration, would you do it?

I don't do it, you illiterate moron. I'm still inconvenienced and
delayed by the police, even though they have no reason to suspect me of
being under the influence of anything harder than caffeine.

Yup. Just like murderers, rapists, and robbers know they'll get prison
time. That's why there are no murders, rapes, or robberies in America.
Care to try again when you've grown a clue?
