Default Oil leak behind flywheel

Hello NG!
I bought a used engine some month ago. There came a seal and a o-ring for
the flywheel along with the engine. I installed both. Now a month later the
engine is waiting for be installed in my car. I observed some oil leaking
out behind the flywheel.
Could it be something else as a bad installed o-ring or seal? I thing i did
a nice job installing them! The seal and o-ring was some cheap stuff without
name on it.
I have ordered a new o-ring and a seal from VW. Hope these where better.
Is there anything else i should look on during this operation?
Bye....MIC from Denmark

Did you measure the crank endplay (movement) after putting
the flywheel on? I only say this because if the play is more
than 0.15mm the case may be worn excessively.

Often, the O-Ring becomes damaged as the crank enters the
flywheel. To avoid damage, lubricate the O-Ring first.

And use a suitable tool to press the seal into the case;
the tool should press evenly on the outer circumference
of the seal.

When you take the flywheel off this time, very carefully
inspect the engine case to determine if perhaps the oil
is leaking from somewhere other than the seal.

I had this problem, and it was a cracked block, the casting is sometimes
thin near the third cyclinder.
good luck.
