Yeah, they have those in small passenger cars in Europe. I don't know about
mileage, maintenance or dependability, but they smell bad and they are loud
too. The only thing worse, are the scooters that sound like a chain saw or
a string trimmer. Gasoline is damn expensive here, and lots of people still
use it, even in trucks. There must be a reason.

It's a fool's errand to argue with Bill, of course. But any others can
figure that since Mercedes Benz at their peak never sold enough diesel
cars in a whole year for every car owner on Staten Island to own one,
the total effect or them on fuel prices was negligible. I'm sure
Mercedes engines in Carrier and ThermoKing truck reefer units burned
more diesel than did Mercedes engines in cars.

One of those old pushrod OMs would sure go good in an old flatfender
though, wouldn't it? And you can get them for a couple hundred bucks.

And sooooooooo
just what in the hell is WRONG with a "Chick" version of the Jeep?
Huh?
Chicks like cars, chicks like all different kinds of cars
Maybe we LIKE having a vehicle that the guys don't want to share with us!
MAYBE we already have a "workhorse" (for instance, mine is an F250 4x4,
turbo diesel, long bed, supercab pick-em-up truck) and we want something FUN
but not a bare roots rock crawler.

Maybe we want something to run to the store in that has heated leather
seats, sirius radio and room to haul 4 adults and one fidgity little kid.
Maybe we want it ALL!

What's your problem with it? I bet *I* know! I bet deep down, you REALLY
were ****ed off that you couldn't buy a pink one with 25" lo pro tires on it
and pink fuzzy interior so you have decided that you have to try to degrade
it to make yourself feel like a man. Like the little boys did in 2nd grade.
If they liked a little girl, they would show it by being men to her, calling
her names or maybe punching her because they were too embarrased or dumb to
know any other way,

Tell you what, you like yours, I'll like mine and in the meantime, we won't
mention your questionable taste in vehicles, ok?

Sheesh.. .whadda maroon!

It was Mercedes that open the door back in about '75 and force the
oil companies to build service stations for them, drive up the product
price.

No answer to the question, I see. It's not the Mercedes diesels that
increase the demand so much.

Now we see the true source of Bill's prejudice....
