Maintenance Required light
Hi all,
2004 Accord. The maintenance required light came on yesterday at startup and goes out after 10 blinks. My research tells me this is the built-in notification to have service done (i.e. oil change) but I do that type of service my self. Car has 55K miles and was just serviced one month ago. I've tried some of the fixes I've found on the net to reset this (holding down trip reset while turning key) but it continues to blink. Any ideas other than taking it to the Stealership? Thanks H-S-F cut your hair to respond |

Maintenance Required light
The procedure to turn it off is buried in the owners manual.

If you haven't got an Owner's Manual, you can get one he https://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/logon.asp Choose "Owner's Manuals" from the menu at left (no login required), then navigate to your car. Your information begins on page 73. -- TeGGeR® The Unofficial Honda/Acura FAQ www.tegger.com/hondafaq/ |

Are we to mocho to think that we should read them/? The auto co. spend zillions on developing them! Honda has one of the best! I passed up a used car because the dealer said, "Naw...nobody reads them!" I told him " Good bye... Everything is there! Warrenty..Safety.... Maint Req. light.... I think they should be bolted in a compartment in the dash, with a little cloth tag , like the use to be on furniture. " Do not remove under penalty of the law" Just Kiddin!!! > |

Thanks TeGGeR. I did read the manual that came with the car but it was allot
different from the one on line. I'll try this procedure tonight. Maintenance Required light
Here's an update. The advice was helpful, but the manual failed to add one
small point that was needed. While you are holding down the reset button you must turn the key to the number two position then back to off and REMOVE the key then put it back in still while holding down the reset button. This procedure fixed the problem. H-S-F |
