Miata suspension straw man
Hello,
I'm looking to upgrade my suspension soon and I've done a lot of research online and even taken a few rides. I'm be using my car for autocross, track days, and some commuting (I have a 2nd car, but prefer driving the Miata when possible). My car is a 96 stock miata with a front FM sway bar. Let me know if I can do better for less money or just a tab bit more. Koni Sports Shocks - LTBMotorsports.com ($500) Koni Sleeves/Lower Perches/2.5" spring adapter - KingMotorsports.com ($190) Suspension Spring Specialist springs - PitstopUSA.com Front 450lbs 7" ($90) Rear 325lbs 8" ($90) FCM shock mounts + stops - FatCatMotorsports.com ($280) Total is $1150 Please beat up this configuration as much as possible. I would like to hear all the down sides now before dropping over a grand in it. I plan to set the ride height to 12.75" in front. The rear will be adjusted to whatever is necessary to corner balance the car. Thanks, Freddie |

I never heard of those springs, and they seem too soft for > your purposes. Shaikh gave me a test drive in his dual purpose green Miata with that spring rate with his revalved Bilsteins, coilovers, shock mounts, and bumpstops. It was definitely a very well setup car with 16" SSR Comp wheels. He also recommended this brand of springs, though I've also never heard of them. This spring rate would not make me very competitive, that's for sure. But at this price range, the only choice I found which could handle higher spring rate are factory revalved Bilstein, but I didn't find many people doing this except Spec Miata Racers because they don't have a choice. I don't want to blaze any trails here. I choose the Koni because a lot of people have this setup and it's pretty for the price. |
