Default BMW lifetime digital tire pressure gauge

I have one of those "lifetime" guages that reads in PSI to a 0.5 PSI
accuracy. The beeper sound was weak, then today it showed an "L"
instead of a pressure reading, so I removed the CR2032 battery, and
put a new one in a few hours later.
Now it shows "01.0" when I read something that is at least 30 PSI, and
does not beep.

Does the unit need calibrating, or pitched away? Will BMW honor any
sort of lifetime warranty? TIA

Probably needs calibrating.
On most you just sorta "zap it" with air quickly. put it on the stem & pull it
off just fast enough to let some air out. The manual-lete should have
procedure.

I would suspect bmw would honor it; if you have the paper work.

Try taking the battery out for 30s and then reinsert it.

Tried it, waited overnight, did the "blip" zero calibration test,
still shows "01.0" for about 10-15 seconds. Original battery causes
the same. I have the card that came with the gauge. Says 20 year life
on the battery, how to zero the gauge and to send it to the factory on
seeing "L" for a free replacement. China? Right. I'll take it and
the receipt to the dealer and swap it out.
I'm not a believer in lifetime batteries or "no user servicable parts
inside."
Thanks!

****er it's gone belly up -- on the flip side; the dealer should swap it out;
HOWEVER, if the warranty is on the battery, not the unit <dot> <dot><dot>

I have a guage I got at a chain-store for like $2.99 still works fine. So if
they don't warranty it; I'd look elsewhere.

Let us know what they say/do

I took the gauge, receipt and card to the dealer. Mentioned a low
battery and things. Not sure if they heard everything I said. The
guy at the parts counter opened up another package, took out the
gauge, noted my customer # from the receipt (which was from their old
system), took the bad gauge, and off I went.

The card (from the sales pack) did say that if the unit doesn't read
properly, send it to the factory for free replacement.

Great that they owned up to the warranty & replaced it -- who cares what the
parts dweeb thought or didn't-hear right?
