brands of reman A/C compressors?
Any opinions on the following brands?
-spectra -four seasons -ac/delco The compressor clutch in my 944 shat the bed tonight; I suspect that it may be time for a whole new compressor because it always vibrated somewhat (it's a little Denso thing, not one of the old York thumpers.) A Denso unit from Pelican is so expensive that I'd be tempted to simply junk the car rather than fix it. Rock Auto lists the brands above as less expensive alternatives, but I'm not sure if any are too cheap to be good. thanks, nate -- replace "roosters" with "cox" to reply. http://members.cox.net/njnagel |

The Hilsch (sp?) tube was used commercially for some instrumental purposes, but I dont believe it ever found application as a heavy duty air conditioning platform. Nate, I have had good luck with a new compressor from AC Kits. It is quiet, new, and not expensive. They may have a universal model for your application. These seem to be a pretty good bunch of guys. |

I don't know how their prices compare but you might check with: http://www.griffiths.com/porsche/ac/944ac/index.html |

Stay away from the cheap parts store rebuilds. Steve B. |
