At a guess, the job in question doesn't have regular 9-5, Monday-Friday hours. I book mine in for my day off, leaving it with him until I can swing an early shift to pick it up just before he closes a couple of days later. -- Steve H 'You're not a real petrolhead unless you've owned an Alfa Romeo' http://www.italiancar.co.uk - Honda VFR800 - MZ ETZ300 - Alfa 75 TSpark Alfa 156 2.0 TSpark Lusso - Fiat Marea 20v HLX - COSOC KOTL BoTAFOT #87 - BoTAFOF #18 - MRO # - UKRMSBC #7 - Apostle #2 - YTC # |

Yes you're correct, the annual service can be organised with some difficulty, but it would be nice to know that there was an Alfa specialist to deal with the problems etc: that hopefully will not, but probably will, arise in future who is not too far away. As I have already suffered a cambelt failure at 12000miles finding the dealership closed was of concern. Oh and for Domestos. Taking leave has no financial consequence for me but the patients who get cancelled would be pretty miffed. Mind you I could just adopt you're attitude. -- Paul Woodsford Remove NOSPAM to reply. |

Around here it's common to drop the car off the previous evening (key in an envelope through the letter-box) and then one only has to take an hour or two off to pick the car up again. -- Stephen Poley |

Blimey, the guy was only asking a couple of simple questions.
He knows his situation far better than anyone else ... sheesh! Paul. |

So what are you telling me? You have to book your leave 10 months in advance? Most hospitals only book appointments 4-6 weeks in advance. Even your schedule will allow for a late arrival or a morning off now and again, so don't pull the 'patient is most important' bull****... as we all know, patients are just meat on a slab... Dom |

So why does he need to share it with the NG? He obviously has a problem in organisation (IMHO) if he finds a dealer 12-14 miles away 'a little too far to travel becasue of work related reasons... I work 50 odd miles away from my dealer, and still managed to get my car into them without missing any time at work. However the problem I find with alfa dealers are they can never book you in when you need to be booked in.... you always have to wait for 2 weeks and even longer if you want a courtesy car... Dom |

Who said I couldn't cope with 12-14 miles, not me. Cardiff is 15.9 miles from the next dealer in Newport. Getting from Home to old Dealer to work was just possible without too much disruption as the journey crosses the radially orientated transport links to Cardiff rather than follow them.. Travelling the extra 15miles to Newport, using the M4 or anyother road, first thing in the morning is a whole new ball game with the amount of commuter traffic. The journey is not impossible and maybe I should have used different language other than "I don't fancy travelling all the way to Swansea or Newport?" when making my request for any information about an Alfa Specialist. I can see you have a chip on your shoulder, called a forest by the look of things, but never mind " Each to our own opinion ". I wish you a good day, as I'm off to work. -- Paul Woodsford Remove NOSPAM to reply. |
