NOTE: If anybody has trouble saving any of these 4 Alfa Romeo images it is
probably because the file titles include a dot at an inappropriate place.
The proper model number is 2.98 as shown but your computer may not like
that. Let me know if you'd like a copy with a more readable title.

Pat,
I do have the 'dot' issue but work around it. That said, the international
convention is a 'comma' in displacement descriptors instead. FWIW, I think
this is an 8C 2900, but I didn't open it yet.

Not a problem here Pat, I just added John's comment to the file name and added .jpg on the end.
Downloaded fine.

According to the ID card it belongs to a guy named Ray Scherr.

You're probably right John. I just went with this:

Yerwelgumjohn. Ol' Zincy was there too but he got a call from work and had
to go in. I'm not sure how many shots he got before he had to leave --- or
even IF he got any. As it was, we never even crossed paths before he bugged
out. I had completely forgotten about this show & would have missed it but
Z~ sent me a timely reminder a week or two before the event.

You're right about the abundance of things automotive we've got to shoot out
here although a lot of it is pure junk like Donut Derelicts on Saturday
mornings, etc., but it can be kinda fun anyway. I think there's a goodly
amount of activity in certain other places too like FL for example...at
least when it's not under assault by Hurricane Andrew or something.

Oh, yeah. I could see that kinda blurry in one of your original pix. Could
be that the sign shop just went by some entry data " engine size = 2.9,
engine type = 8C" or something like that. Sign folks know sign-making, not
necessarily Alfa terms. Generally speaking, up till the mid-50s at least,
Alfa went by engine type as in 8C 2900 B in the instant case: "8" = eight
cylinders "C" = Compressor; and size: "2900" = 2,9Litres; also you'll see 6
2500, etc. The 'B' is an evo designation, I think limited to 38-39 models.
All things considered, it's amazing so many pre-WWII Alfas and Masers still
exist.
You and Zincy Pinky - charter members of the Gang of Four iirc - are great
participants. You have the skills, cameras, and best domestic opportunities
for pix out there on the Left Coast - and all year round.
Thanks.

Concours not so much in FL except Amelia, maybe. But for vintage race cars
FL is right there with SoCal what with the Collier, Garlits, and Daytona
museums; Sebring and Daytona HSR, etc. Millard Newman in Tampa is (was?)
probably the top RR collector in the country, and TV Tommy Ivo and Art 'The
Dart' Malone live(d?) there, too. With PB, the Monterey Historics, the
Petersen, etc you guys have it all - except the hurricanes, tornadoes, fire
ants, snakes, gators, sharks, jellyfish, fires, blue-hairs, salt air, sand,
and so on.
There's also nothing in FL like the various events that Andre chronicles
either. While FL has had more than its share of off-beat Euro cars in the
50s-60s due to all the USAF servicemen rotating in and out and settling
around MacDill and McCoy, they're mostly long-gone as scrap to Japan. I had
a Renault Dauphine and my dad had a Simca Mille, fi, and the gas station
owner I worked for had a 250 TdF and then a Bocar Stiletto. Most all of
those cars were USED and used often, not preserved. That's why I like
Andre's work, too, for the 'real car' aspects.
I can't get out and all you guys are my eyes.
Thanks
john
