Default Clock on '94 Accord

The digital clock in my '94 Accord EX works, but after driving a couple
miles the display disappears. To see the time, I have to press on the front
of the clock. (The display is bright and normal when it IS visible.) Could
it be a loose wire? Before I go spending a bunch of money, can anyone offer
any suggestions?

Search this group. Just talked about the clock a couple days ago. Pop it
out, check if bulb holder / cable is loose.

Maybe glue that button permanently? Is it the fluorescent type? Is the
memory retained? If so, then maybe crack solder joints? I would `resolder` the
board on the clock. This works on older Hondas.

The clock has three inputs:

A) WHT/YLW wire. Constant battery voltage. Runs the clock

B) RED/BLK wire. battery voltage when parking or head lights are on.
Used to dim the clock display when lights are on.

C) YEL wire. Battery voltage switched through the ignition. Used to turn
the display on and off with the ignition.

D) BLK. Ground

Your symptoms are consistent with an intermittent connection on the YEL
wire.

To get access, you need to first remove the rear console (the one with
the arm rest and cup holders etc.), two screws at the bottom of the junk
compartment. Then remove the front console panel. Two screws at the rear
end and one at the bottom of the ashtray opening + a number ow wire
connectors.

Check for damage at the yellow wire and its terminals etc.

Thanks for all the help. And for the instructions on how to pop that puppy
out. I looked at it, scratching my head (which usually helps, but not in
this case) but couldn't figure it out. I will definitely check out the
wires, focusing on the yellow one. Again, much appreciation.
