Default '04 Jetta GL issues? (Please help me out)

I am looking to buy a used 2004 Jetta GL with just over 43k miles on it at a
local used car dealer here. The price is within my range the only thing I am
concerned about is hearing of issues with Jettas. On Consumer Affairs there
are many issues brought forth by current and previous Jetta owners but it
seems that many of these issues are not relevant to the 2004 model. The
consumer report on the 2004 even seems to provide better results then
earlier cars. I just was hoping for opinions on any issues you have had,
heard of or if you have just not have had any issues with yours at all.
Thank you for your time.

You buy a car and things are going to break. Doesn't matter if it's a Honda,
Toyota, VW, Chevy, Audi, Ford, etc! Consumer Affairs over the years have
always gave VW's low ratings. That said... VW and most German cars have
always been on the "cutting edge" of technology and sometimes it's bit VW in
the but when problems arise.

L O N G warranty if possible and make sure you don't spend too much and
try to get everything covered!

Plastic things break and I am not a lover of the auto transmissions, but
some are good. ;-)
VWs make very good cars though. ;-)
