Default 2000 Passat V6 Timing Chain Tensioners

Hello

Does the 2000 V6 Passat have one or two timing chain tensioners.

I heard one and I heard two. I heard one is on the front of the engine on
the drivers side, the other the rear passengers side.

Could someone please confirm the number and locations.

I was told by the VW dealer that the Timing Chain Tensioner gasket is
leaking and also the Valve cover gaskets were leaking. The car is still
within the 10 year / 100k miles so that said that they would cover the
repair.

However they said that it would take 4 days as they need to remove the
engine? Is this true?

Thanks

2 timing chains for the camshafts should have 1 tensioner each chain.
1 timing chain per cylinder head.
1 timing belt for both camshaft sprockets.

Do you still have the warranty book? Gaskets may be covered but it is good
to have written proof that it is covered!

BTW aren't you in the yahoo passat groups already?

Tensioner seals and valve cover gaskets are covered under the 10/100.
There are two, but the engine does not have to be removed to do it.
It does, however take most of a day to replace them.
