How long were ACVW's designed to last?
10 years. I know they used to award a badge if your engine made it to
100,000 km... 60,000 miles. and who can afford re-building from the pan up? -- when you believe the only tool you have is a hammer. problems tend to look like nails. |

The original metric was 60K miles on the engine and it should be able to do 60K per hour. > and who can afford re-building from the pan up? They just swapped engines, silly. Here in Minnesota you could take your lame ACVW to a shop, go across the street for lunch and come back to a new engine and drive away. As I recall they were $600 plus install. |

If I had driven 16000 miles per year, as I did for many years, it would have 720,000 miles after 45 years. Randall |

I don't think my '76 Type 1 will last that long, but I'm having fun with it while it lasts. Les |

The head was replaced once, and the handle six times, but this still is my father's hammer. How many engines? Brakes? Any tranny work or replacent? Clutch? Electrics? Glass? Plastic? |

The CR is now 7.27:1. P.S. I have my grandfather's hammer. It still has the original head and handle and is at least 68 years old. So there! Randall |
