Father Of The VW Beetle
In every VW book I have read, they cite Ferdinand Porsche as the
person who designed the VW Beetle. I ran across some information today that disputes that. It says that an engineer by the name of Josep Ganz was the person responsible, but because he was Jewish, he was forced to leave Germany during that time, and his name erased from German history books Take a look at the link if you get a chance and see what you think: http://www.josef-ganz.com/ |

Last I read the designer was actually a Czech bloke ( and I may be in error
here re the engine) who designed a beetle looking car but much longer and a V8 in rear. No? Now this is out o fmy memory so I may have some of it wrong, but I think
Porsche was at least accused of "stealing" Hans Ledwinka's (Tatra designer) designs to make the early KDF wagen designs. As I recall some payment was made to the fellow to go ahead and quiet
the dispute over design issues but either before or after that the German Govt (war-time govt) "convinced" all claims to be dropped against Porsche.
