the possible buyer is in Ontario. by the way seller said the 55 isn't as
common as the 500?. and said this was one of only 27 in the US. or 17, or
something like that. it had a number plate on the console.

other than the wheels, i found the front grille guard comical. Or as we
call them in Colorado, a big ugly "cow catcher" on a vehicle that has no
business having one. guess it keeps the criminals from stealing his grille
or something.

Well he's right about that. And that standard, naturally aspirated 500 is
plenty strong in its own right. This AMG version is pure overkill.

Somehow I've never understood the need for an ultrahigh performance off road
vehicle. Unless it's going to be used as a Baja racer or something, and if
that were the purpose this thing would be ridiculously inadequate.

As it is, it's a freak of nature. Overspec'd for the street and underspec'd
for off-road.

That ought to qualify it as an outrageous pimp car.

I found myself driving behind an almost identical one earlier today. It,
too, had all the same silly chrome brush bars and light protection. It's
Vancouver, for goodness sake, not Jurassic Park. It's just a huge joke, and
bloody expensive one at that. In our context it's just a way of taking
money earned by sweatshops in China and funnelling it back to German banks.
Our Geländewagens are almost exclusively driven by one particular ethnic
group while a second ethnic group is the one that can be seen in Cadillac
Escalades and the like. The Benzes tend to be silver or black while the
Escalades are black with bling wheels. The two groups don't mix.
