Default 1997 TJ Sahara Ragtop bought new, still driven. Replacement? (See inside)

I have an 06 Rubi. Bought it brand new.
I wouldn't trade it for the world. It's just comfortable and reliable enough
that I can drive across the country and then throw it into 4LO and head up a
rock pile.
It would certainly be something to consider. It's been a VERY reliable
vehicle. The only issues I have had with it have been the factory stereo
crapped out on me (four times) the cats had to be replaced (7/70 federal
emissions warranty)
Other than that anything else has been the result of the mods I have made to
it or the trails I have taken it on.

However, I have friends that have the JKs both the 2 door and 4 door variety
and they are rock crawling sunsabitches! Don't let that little mongoloid
face fool you, the JK is a REAL Jeep. Again, I'd recommend the Rubicon
model.

I'm grateful for your replies but it wasn't quite
what I was asking. My bad, try again:

How do the *current model* Jeeps compare
with older models in reliability, ruggedness,
features, bugs - if any, problems - if any,
Pro vs. Cons - if any ?

Most interested in TJ Saharas then versus
current models of Sahara, Rubicon, Extended.

*IF* you were to replace a '97 TJ Sahara and it
had to be a current model Jeep what compares
most favorably as per above?

My Ernest Thanks in Advance,

Andrew
