Body computer; Warranty Direct , Ideas?
Central locking packed up on the 147, diagnosed today as the body
computer. Bought a Warranty Direct Gold policy earlier this year, as the 3 year manufacturers had run out. Looked fairly comprehensive, fairly good reports, no 'wear and tear' exclusion... Garage v helpful as usual, but they chased warranty direct and they cover locking motors, but not the control units, so now I'm looking at upwards of £200. I'm going to have a crack at pestering warranty direct for a bit, any ideas?? (other than don't bother with extended warranties, which I'm kind of thinking myself at the moment!) Thanks everyone, Philip (PS, can't seem to reply to other posts, so for those who replied to my sidelight disaster posting cheers, but I managed to get it out - good old long nosed pliars!!) |

To reply to newsgroup posts using outlook - 'Press Reply Group' when you have the message you wish to reply to highlighted... Out of interest, how much did the extended warrinty cost you, and what was covered in the deal you purchased? Was the extended warrinty bought with Alfa or another insurance company? Domestos |

I doubt you'll get very far. Looks like you are just unlucky that the part that failed wasn't covered. I've claimed successfully twice from Warranty Direct, but the parts were covered. They go strictly by the contract. I'm in 2 minds about extended warranties. They worked in my favour with one car I had, but overall I've spent a few hundred more on them than I've claimed, so self-insurance is probably cheaper in the long run. |
