Default Do All Alternators Operate Similar ?

My car alternator charges more at faster speeds
and higher rpm. Are all alternators similar in this
regard or are there alternators available that operate
just as well at low speed and low rpm.

You can run your battery flat if you are stuck in
a three or four hour traffic jam at night with your
lights on and barely moving forward. This gets worse
in cold weather.

I was just wondering if there were alternators available
that charge well at low rpm.

Thanks in advance
Denny B

Your charging system is bad.

If the volt gauge swings a lot with RPM, I would first be cleaning all
the main battery cables on both ends and be checking for a loose fan
belt.

A swingy gauge 'usually' means dirty connections.

Most auto places will give you a free charging system check, but if you
have dirty cables, they can think you have a bad battery or bad
alternator and you can spend money for nothing.

Sure putting a new battery or alternator in will 'fix' it, but all they
are really doing is giving you a new clean connection in a 'lot' of
cases.
