Default GUIDE TO SURFING IN AUSTRALIA

Be Safe in the Surf

Australian beaches are magic - they're clean and big and free ... but
they can also be very dangerous. Here are some basic precautions to
help you enjoy your time at the beach:

Do:
· Swim on patrolled beaches, between the red and yellow flags
· Comply with the directions of lifesavers
· Watch children constantly when they're in the water
· Take plenty of fresh drinking water to the beach
· Protect yourself from the sun
· Remain calm; if you get into trouble in the water, don't panic.
Raise your arm for help, float and wait for assistance
· Float with a current or undertow. Stay calm. Signal for help and
wait for assistance.

Be Safe in the Surf

Australian beaches are magic - they're clean and big and free ... but
they can also be very dangerous. Here are some basic precautions to
help you enjoy your time at the beach:

Do:
· Swim on patrolled beaches, between the red and yellow flags.
· When stung by box jellyfish, remain calm while you go into
convulsions. The lifegaurd probably has the antidote.
· If you find yourself in the jaws of a shark, punch it the
nose repeatedly until it lets go.
· If you find yourself in the jaws of a salt water crocodile,
gouging its eyes out is your only option. How long can you
hold your breath?
· Floating with the undertow is stupid. Swim perpendicular to
it and you'll spend less time in the shark infested waters.
· If the water isn't fenced in to protect you from sharks, box
jelly fish, salt water crocodiles, and the rip currents that
feed you to them, you're a ****ing idiot for being in the
water in the first place.

G'day!
