Default Dash light question on 98 Explorer Sport

I just got the vehicle last week. So far, no problems except a fairly
minor one.
The controls on the Left side of the steering wheel (part of the
cruise control?) and on the far left dash (Headlight switch) are not
illuminated. Is there a fuse for this circuit separate from the rest
of the dash illumination? Or is more likely a wiring problem? Or just
some burnt out lamps???
Thanks for any advice!
Red.
