I thought it was about time someone posted something. It's been a quiet week. :-)

I continue to wrestle with my love hate relationship with iRacing. I still love the
core sim code, but still dislike the iRacing service. But the above movie was
inspired by a well attended and very satisfying Club England race. No SR or iR to
worry about, and racing with people you know, not a random bunch of iStrangers.
Great fun.

Maybe the movie shows a little of that.

Of course for a man who claims to have mixed feelings about iRacing I seem to
continue to spend like a drunken sailor. After 18months, in and out, I finally got
up to 100% content a few weeks ago when I was feeling rich on pay day. On the
bright side that means 25% "discount" on Zandvoort when it's released later today.
On the down side it means I have a HD fun of content gathering dust.

But what the heck, I could've spent that on beer... except I don't drink. Or fast
cars... except I can't drive. Or exotic holidays... except I don't get the whole
holiday thing. Or wild women... except the only wild women I've got my hands on
lately were fighting in the foyer at work at 1am.

Mmmm... I guess I might as well spend it on iRacing then. :-)

Besides, one day they might give us AI and I can retire from online (most of the
time) and enjoy that content in whatever form I see fit. I live in hope!

And in the mean time I've had some very enjoyable races recently. Brands Hatch was
very satisfying to race on in the Mazda. The Late Model at Lime Rock is always
welcome (except by the hardcore short track iMafia). And although I've given up on
the Dallara since the last update, I've started driving the Radical (when I can
find a race) and that's proving very interesting. With a decent amount of wing it
handles like a kind of 'grown up' Skip Barber. Lively, but catchable by mere
mortals.

Andrew - if you are around tomorrow afternoon I will be hosting a VW
TDI Cup race at Summit Point. I sent you an email with the details.

Excellent vid! As soon as iRacing offer pay per race, at a reasonable price,
I will be there.

So what are you talking about? The FIRST series or hosted? Hosted is $3
per session. You could run a league with buddies for peanuts. Or are you
talking about the overall service/monthly sub?

I'm a bit behind the time and didn't know about the hosted service. But I'm
I'd like FIRST to offer a pay per race billing option. I won't to be able to
charge my account with money and spend it as and when.

This is actually pretty interesting when you think about it. Obviously
anything that creates an avenue for more money coming in is something
iRacing would be interested in, especially in that this potentially provides
another bunch of people to sell content to.

So I assume you'd like to host races with a mixture of people both
subscribed monthly and not. As far as those subscribed monthly go, they just
join the server and that's that. But what do the rest do. Obviously the
person putting the server up pays something in doing so, but then the
question is, what do the other non subscribers do. I guess they'd all need
to pay. Maybe $1 each? Do these non subscribers get a day or 2 on the forums
as well?

Interesting!

That's pretty much it. I would have an iRacing account with cash in it and
spend it on things within iRacing, whether that be content or racing.
IRacing needs to have more than just a monthly subscription plan, because
people are different.

Great stuff, Andrew. I've always liked reading your posts here.
Definitely balanced and well reviewed.

Great vids Andrew,

Your vid reminds me of some vids I have archived from the days when GPL
was populating the binaries... I thought it was very good, wish you could
tech me how to do that... I have ADD I think , I have tried to do some
stuff like that with Windows movie maker, I lose interest after the 1st few
clips and stuff...
