Default The wiper control unit isn't where it should be???

Ive got a late 1997 323 E36 with a M52 engine. The wipers have gone
doolally, and so I want to replace the wiper control unit. Ive got a
new one and the Haynes manual says it should be in the dash above the
pedals. But it just isn't there.

I realise that the Haynes manual does not cover the engine (only
covers M50 upt to 95), but thought it should cover the rest of the
car. Has anyone any idea where to look?

Thanks

The car is right hand drive? You're in the UK right? In the U.S. it is
located under and behind the glove box, on the right side of the car. Since
you are bass ackward ( ;-p ) I assume it would be reversed as well, but
I have never worked on a rhd car.

Thanks Richard, You were dead right - behind the glove box. Thats
probably my English arrogance coming out assuming its all written for
RHD cars!!

Still it didn't work anyrate, change the wiper controller and no
change. Next stop the motor. Its all so damn expensive. Can't really
fathom whats wrong, it goes just fine except sometimes intermittent
gives two wipes instead of one, then it'll just stop. At this point
the only cure is to turn the ignition off and back on. That led me to
think it was the controller, but I'm guessing it has to be the relay
in the motor if that didn't fix it. In for a penny ....
