O.T. Radio removal help 92 GMC truck

The radio on my dad's 92 GMC truck has finally stopped working, I was
wondering if anyone out there might know what is involved in pulling
the factory unit? or have links?

Its not too hard, just tedious. The radio is in either 2 or 3 parts
depending on if you have the cassette unit in the center dash. The amplifier
is the hard part to get out, but you dont have to remove it if you dont want
to. You will want to have a set of nut drivers and a torx head driver, a
small one.

You have to take the dash bezel off (4 trorx screws - 1 in each corner of
the dash), unscrew the AC and and aux swtch panel from the dash, then
unscrew the radio. There is a long cable that attaches to the amplifier
which is located under the dash behind the ashtray. If you also have the
cassette units, you have to remove the center dash panel to get to the
screws for it. Be careful because the plastic tabs that the brass clips
attach to are brittle and will break off. Good news is that you can buy a
replacement dash panel cheap at Wal Mart already cut for a new radio.

Go get a Chiltons manual from the car parts store. The $20 is worth it for
stuff like this.
