Multilane roundabout navigation
I've been reading up on multilane roundabouts and have noticed that in
many cases, they allow traffic in outer lane of the roundabout to proceed beyond the first exit after they enter in order proceed "straight through". Would this not lead to a conflict when traffic in the inner lane of the roundabout needs to exit when adjacent traffic in the outer lane is going to take the next exit? I've always thought it makes more sense to require that traffic entering the roundabout in the outer lane to take the very first exit after they enter. This would allow both lanes to be better utilized since there should be no conflict with traffic exiting from the inner lane (where inner lane traffic exits onto the inner lane of the road and outer lane traffic exits onto the outer lane of the road). What do the rest of you think? |

Multi-lane roundabouts shouldn't exist at all. They create unnecessary conflicting expectations that will cause wrecks. |
