Surprising to see a LHD Jensen, isn't it? Was this one with an American
Ford V8 or Nash engine? That Jensen radiator is certainly impressive. You
know the one I'd like to see? That would be the post war big saloon of
which only a handful were ever made. From the pictures I've seen of it I
always thought it looked especially elegant.

This one had the Hudson engine, hence the model designation H-type. The
Ford-engined cars were S-types, and the few Lincoln-engined cars were
HL-types.

This is the first pre-war Jensen I can remember ever seeing, not really
surprising since total Jensen pre-war production amounted to around 85
cars of all types. They were good-looking cars, as would befit a style
originally commissioned a a one-off by actor Clark Gable. The PW saloon
prompted Austin to build their own post-war Sheerline as what the Jensen
brothers considered to be so close a copy of the Jensen design that an
aggrieved Richard Jensen complained to Austin supremo Leonard Lord, who
placated him with an agreement for engine supply which lasted from 1946
until the launch of the Chrysler-engined CV-8 in 1963

Thanks for the info, Leroy. I don't have much detail on the Jensens other
than the work they did for Austin. It's interesting that their sedan was
the inspiration for the Sheerline and, yes, I can definitely see the
resemblance.
